Things to do in Pag
Pag island connects to the mainland two ways: the Pag Bridge (Paški most) in the south, usable by car, and the Prizna–Žigljen ferry in the north, for those approaching along the coast. The island's landscape is bare and stony, closer to a lunar surface than the green islands further south, shaped by wind and thin soil rather than forest.
That same dry ground produces Paški sir, a sheep's-milk cheese fed by salt-sprayed pasture, and Pag lace, a needlepoint craft recognised by UNESCO as intangible heritage in 2009. Pag Town, with its salt pans and stone streets, is a different stop from Novalja further north, which is the gateway to the Zrće beach clubs and runs on nightlife rather than heritage.
Combined Pag–Nin excursions and day tours from Zadar cover both sides of the island without requiring a rental car.
