Things to do in Dugi Otok

Dugi Otok is the largest island of the Zadar archipelago, and its two reasons to visit sit at opposite ends: Telašćica Nature Park in the south, with the salt lake Mir and sea cliffs rising to around 160 metres, and Sakarun bay in the north, a shallow, sheltered stretch of white sand and pebbles.

There is no direct car route to the island's main sights from the mainland — boats run from Zadar, Biograd, Murter or Sali, and most visitors see Dugi Otok on a day excursion rather than a self-drive trip. Away from these two spots, the island is mostly bare limestone, sparsely populated, and left largely wild.

A speedboat or small-boat tour combining Telašćica and Sakarun is the practical way to cover both in one day, and some itineraries add a stop in the nearby Kornati islands.
